Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
PBIS is a problem-solving model that aims to prevent inappropriate behavior through explicit teaching and support of appropriate behaviors. It is a research based systems approach that is data driven. Data is used to identify those students with more challenging behaviors and create individualized behavior plans for those students. PBIS offers a range of interventions that are systematically applied based on the level of need. The interventions are fluid, allowing students to move in out of behavioral interventions based upon their response to the intervention.

Upcoming Events
2016 - 2017 School Year Kick-Off
During the first week of school, 6th graders will be introduced to the Universal Target Behaviors expected of all Horace Mann Eagles when moving through the hallways and food lines, interacting in the cafetorium and during assemblies, and when entering the building. Seventh and Eighth graders will be reminded of these expectations. All students will watch videos, participate in small group discussions and practice the expected behaviors. We will culminate the week with an all school celebration to acknowledge improvements and progress made with the behavioral expectations.
Additional Roll-Outs and Booster Sessions
To support the positive behaviors of Horace Mann students, various celebrations and acknowledgements are planned throughout the school year. All students will have the ability to use their earned acknowlegements on team, at the school store or through school wide drawings. As the year progresses, if the data suggests we need reminders or additional practice with the target behaviors in a specific location, we will schedule those booster sessions accordingly. We appreciate the good choices all Horace Mann Eagles are capable of making and want to celebrate those who do!
